One viral tweet saved the day for this struggling donut shop

Maybe social media isn't so bad after all.

Business had been slow for Billy's Donuts in Missouri City, Texas, which opened only last week, according to NBC News.

So the owner's son, Billy, posted a tweet on Saturday evening with pictures of his dad Satharith at the counter of his empty store.

"My dad is sad cause no one is coming to his new donut shop," Billy captioned the post.

The tweet went viral, with more than 300,000 retweets at last count. Even celebrities like actor James Woods, YouTuber Casey Neistat, and the official Twitter account gave the donut shop some love.

Local news station KPRC2 visited the store on Sunday morning and said it was "slammed with customers" who were buying up items.

Later that day, the store had completely sold out of donuts and kolaches.

"I can't thank everyone enough for coming out and supporting local businesses," Billy wrote in another Twitter post. "This means so much to my family."
